SLÁINTE, GRAMPA

Happy St. Patty's Day, Everyone!

As a Sullivan, I am proud of my Irish heritage and my last name. Today, I honor that pride. I also honor my late Grampa Buddy.

With my business, you often hear me speak of my Gramma Ruthie and how she has been a huge inspiration for me. My Gramma hasn't been my only inspiration, though. I am blessed with an incredible array of family members.

Today, I remember my Grampa Buddy and the influence that he had on me and my life. My grandfather had an infectious Irish smile and the kindest set of eyes. He was quiet, but his presence was loud and powerful. He was the kind of person you wanted to be around, and always left you feeling better than before.

I remember when I was 12, my first dog Buster got hit by a car at the end of our street. We were all in so much pain. My grampa came over, and he just hugged me. He whispered, "time heals all wounds." I never forgot that. And he was right. I still remind myself of that when I need it.

When I think of what it means to be Irish, I think of my grandfather. My grampa taught us to be hardworking, tough, and fair. I miss him, but I am so grateful to have known him for 25 years, and am even more grateful for the legacy he left behind.

Irish or not, Happy St. Patrick's Day! We all could learn a little something from Grampa Buddy.

SLÁINTE,

Paige.
